Hot weather and trains

1. It has been incredibly hot here! I know you East Coasters won't feel sorry for us, but with temps in the 90s and a bit humid, it's very unusual (and miserable). The temperature may actually hit 100 today, which is pretty rare. Miles's day care has sprinklers set up, and the local spray parks are open for extended hours.

2. Miles has been playing quietly and by himself for longer periods of time (~30 minutes). Here he is with his latest favorite thing: trains. I set up the track for him, but he connected the trains himself, and entertained himself. I was in the other room, but I could hear him making "choo-choo" sounds and pushing the trains.

How Miles says "water"

There's just no way to describe this, so I finally got it on video; how Miles asks for water:

This has been his "word" for water for several months. It started at daycare; I think he does it because it's the sound of the drinking fountain! How's that for onomatopoeia?

Miles and Ella (who is the daughter of my first cousin Clare). So, I think that makes them either second cousins or first-cousins-once-removed?

Bay Area trip

We've just returned from a trip to the Bay Area to visit friends and family. We stayed at my brother Greg's house in Pleasant Hill, visited JK and Sarah in SF, Michael and Hannah in Napa, Gigi in Pleasanton, and Leo & Vandy in Rockridge. Whew! Miles did great meeting lots of new people and hanging out with new friends. Some highlights:

Miles singing and signing

A few things about this video...first, Miles is imitating me. I was going up and down the stools saying "bop bop bop." Next, Miles is saying "gone" (and signing) when he sees a bird through the window behind me.

We're off to San Francisco for the weekend to visit my siblings and Ethan's friends! Happy July!

Today was a really beautiful, hot, sunny day in Bellingham. We brought Miles to a nearby "splash park" and as you can see, he had a blast. Happy 4th of July, Everyone!
