9 months old...

Happy Birthday, little guy! Wow, Miles is really developing his skills: creeping like crazy, sitting up, and just today, "real" babbling with syllables. He talks to Ethan, Miles, Seth, me, and the balloon. Ethan (the developmental psychologist) observed that Miles made an "A-not-B error" this morning: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-not-B_error

Here he is wearing a Red Sox outfit, though he's really a Mariners fan.

First tooth!!!

Miles's first tooth erupted this afternoon! I'll try to get a picture tomorrow...

Weekend in Victoria, BC

We had a fabulous weekend in Victoria, BC. There's a walk-on ferry from Bellingham, so we left on Saturday morning, returning Sunday evening. We had awesome weather, and Victoria is a really wonderful city. (Notice all the positive adjectives!) Miles has a bit of a cold, so he napped pretty well. But we walked a lot; here we are on a break...

Get the penguin!

Over the course of a week, Miles is now sitting up pretty well, and belly crawling (sorry the video is sideways!):

My first Mothers Day

Yes, I know I'll still be a mom tomorrow, and the next day...but I had a very nice Mothers Day Weekend, celebrated in two special ways. First, Ethan's mom Kathy is visiting (from Portland, Maine) for the week, so it's great to spend time with her. Second, I spent the day with my mom and two of her childhood friends from Taiwan, their daughters (myself, Becky, and Alice), and our six kids total, all under the age of 4. It was a nice reunion that we, the daughters, have been planning for about a month. Here are two photos from the weekend...Miles loved the ball-popper thingy (air pops the balls into the air), and here he is with Grandma Martha.

The Army crawl...

This 45-second video doesn't do Miles justice...he can Army crawl from one end of the room to the other, but only when he's motivated.
